About a year ago, I was having some financial problems. It occurred to me at the time that although I had done roughly 18 years of work on clearing out past lives, I needed to specifically focus on clearing out this problem. It seemed obvious to me that unless I focused on this problem it wasn’t going to go away.

I wasn’t bringing in enough money to pay all my bills. I had taken out payday loans, but that was not a long term solution. The loan payments were eating into my paycheck. I could see this was not a good way to go and in the long run, unless I did something drastic, things were just going to get worse.

I began by assuming that whatever was causing me to have financial problems was inside of me. I figured this was a pretty safe assumption to make. This whole process became a review of the principles of metaphysics and a testing of how it all works. The universe operates through the law of cause and effect; the causes being the thoughts we habitually think – things like beliefs and so on that we have acquired over the millennia and countless past lives; and the effects being the conditions, we experience in our outward reality.

I started affirming, “I am releasing and healing everything within me that is causing me to have financial problems.” After doing this for a while, naturally, things started to come up. I specifically chose this affirmation to “stir the pot” so to speak. I wanted all the things that were causing my financial problems to come up because I was so tired of having to go through this over and over again, and I knew from experience that the only way out was through: I had to dredge up all the stuff within me that was causing this problem and release and heal it.

One of the things that came up was that I had made a vow of poverty in a past life. I had been a monk in the 1400′s or so in the Pyrenees in France or Spain, somewhere in the mountains near the border of the two countries. While a vow of poverty seemed like a good idea at the time, and was probably appropriate for someone who was about to become a monk, this vow had remained in my consciousness and was clearly causing me to have financial problems in my present life.

When I became aware of this vow, I began affirming: “I hereby release any and all vows of poverty I have made in previous lives.” I affirmed this over and over again until I was pretty sure I had truly released the vow of poverty. I can’t remember everything else that came up, but I do remember one memory from my childhood in my present life. I was swimming with my mother. I was pretty young. I was not quite able to swim yet.

Apparently, my mother, thinking she was helping me, separated me from her while I was in the water, so that I would have to swim in order to float. However, I was not quite able to, and I started going under. The result was the opposite of what she was hoping for. I developed a fear of water and a fear of drowning. This happened in a matter of seconds.
Of course, I learned to swim eventually – I even became a lifeguard for one season when I was 18.

Nevertheless, this subconscious fear of drowning was still there in the back of my mind. Moreover, in financial terms, I was afraid that I could not make it on my own. That’s actually pretty huge. If you think, subconsciously, that there is no way you can make it on your own, that’s really a bad place to be operating from. It means that no matter what you do, you can’t make it. I definitely had misgivings about being able to make it on my own.

Despite this fear of drowning being a difficult or unpleasant memory to recall, it’s clear to me that in the end it’s really a good thing I was able to allow it to surface and release it. My affirmation became “I am releasing and healing all fear of drowning. I am releasing and healing all beliefs that I cannot make it on my own.”

The whole process I am describing to you took about a year to go through. I kept affirming, “I am releasing and healing everything within me that is causing me to have financial problems” and things along those lines. At some point, I also became aware that in addition to releasing the causes of our problems, we have to provide our subconscious mind with a clear idea of the goals we desire. I said to myself, “I now have more money than I know what to do with. My monthly income exceeds my expenses. I am wealthy beyond my wildest dreams.” and things like that, so that I began creating the causes of wealth within myself.

I realized, later on in the process that in addition to doing affirmations to release and heal the causes of our problems, and affirming what we want, we also have to do something for others. I don’t know how to say that exactly, but what I asked myself was “What can I do for others that is of immense value to them?” The point is that in order to receive something of great value, such as a large sum of money, you have to give something of equivalent value to others. Again, this is the law of cause and effect in operation.

I don’t think you have to worry about who you give to or what or how much. I just think it should be from your heart, it should be genuine, it should be something you want to do, and it should be spontaneous. So how did this come to me? Well, over a long period of time I began to realize that I was fairly bitter and resentful in a lot of ways (again I did affirmations to release and heal those things); and it occurred to me that rather than being a “taker”, I should focus more on giving without expectation of anything in return.

Not because by doing that good things will come to me, although they probably
Will; it just seemed to me that that is what I should do, and somehow in the process the bitterness and resentment will go away. I wasn’t exactly sure how to do the “giving” part, but I realized much later that over the summer I had sent quite a bit of Reiki to various people, and that constituted the “giving.” So how did all of this work out? With only a few days left in the year, all of a sudden I got emails from my relatives regarding some property we owned. It seemed the people who lived next door wanted to buy this land all of a sudden.

The deal happened quickly and all of a sudden, my financial situation turned around.
I paid off my mortgage, which freed up almost $350 a month. I paid off all the payday loans. I had money to buy a new laptop and a new camera. I loaned out several thousand dollars to a few friends. I bought new tires and paid for the 30,000 mile servicing on my girlfriend’s car. I had enough money that I actually forgot to pick up my paycheck at work about two weeks ago. So yes, things definitely have changed for the better. I am not really worried about money anymore.

I asked one of Foretell’s psychics why my financial situation turned around so quickly. She said that basically because of all the work I had done on releasing and healing these things (the causes), and the clearing up of some heavy karma from one of my past lives, as well as the “giving” I had done, that this all combined to bring me the money I needed.

Take your lightest shade, (“Collie” cream shadow from Buxom) this will be your highlighter, and apply it from lash line to brow bone, and on the inner corners of your eyes.

Take your gold shade, (“Baked” from Urban Decay) and sweep it in a windshield wiper motion into your crease. If your eyes do not have a crease, just place this where you’d like the illusion of one, and sweep it onto the inner third of the eyelid as well. Next, Take a shimmering light green shade, (Almay intense I-Color trio for greens 004) and add it to the outer third of your eye lid, just on the outer corners and blend inward.

Apply a basic black eyeliner close to the lash line on the bottom lashes only. Take a white or peach liner pencil (“I get no Kick” eye kohl from MAC) and line the lower water line on the inside (this will make your eyes appear larger). Then, apply a coat or two of your favorite mascara.

To the apples of your cheeks (the fullest, roundest part in the middle of your cheek), apply a golden pink blush (“Pleasantry” from MAC.) To the tops of your cheeks apply a shimmery highlighter (“Chez Chez Lame” from MAC), and to the hollows (where you see shadows when you suck in your cheeks) very lightly apply bronzer to define the shape of your cheekbones (“Bronze” from Hard Candy).

For the lips use a lip brush (for accuracy) and fill in (Buxom lip pencil in “scandal”) and that will complete this natural, yet polished look.

Celebrated on February 14 every year, Saint Valentine’s Day or Valentine’s Day is the traditional day on which lovers convey their love to each other by sending Valentine’s cards, sometimes even anonymously. The most common feature of Valentines Day these days is the mutual exchange of love notes in the form of “valentines”.

Popular Valentine symbols of modern times include the heart-shaped outline and the figure of the winged Cupid. Since the 19th century, mass produced greeting cards have largely replaced handwritten notes. It is believed that nearly one billion Valentines Day cards are sent each year worldwide, making it only the second largest card-sending holiday next to Christmas. Women are believed to purchase approximately 85 percent of all “valentines.”

Stories of many Valentines
Opinions differ about who St Valentine was. Early martyrologies mention at least three St Valentines under the date of 14 February. One is a priest at Rome, another a Bishop of Interamna (now Terni in Italy) and the other lived and died in Africa. Many, however, are of the opinion that the first two are the same person.

It is, however, widely believed that Valentine’s Day has perhaps originated from the ancient Roman feast of Lupercalia. A festival was held on February 15 in honor of one of their gods Lupercus, who was called upon by the Romans to ward off the threats of those fierce wolves that roamed the adjacent forests.

On the eve of the festival of Lupercalia, a love lottery was organized in which the names of Roman girls were written on slips of paper and placed into jars. Each young man then drew a slip and the girl whose name he picked up was to be his sweetheart for the year.

The holiday subsequently became Valentine’s Day after a priest named Valentine. At that time when Christianity was still a new religion, Valentine was a priest in Rome. The then Emperor Claudius II, had issued an order forbidding the Roman soldiers to marry or become engaged. The emperor believed that once they got married, his soldiers would want to stay home rather than fight his wars.

Valentine defied the Emperor’s decree and secretly married the young couples. He was finally arrested, imprisoned, and beheaded on February 14, the eve of Lupercalia. Valentine was posthumously named a saint. As Christianity grew stronger in Rome, the priests moved the Lupercalia or spring holiday from February 15 to February 14, i.e., Valentine’s Day. Since then the holiday began honoring Saint Valentine instead of Lupercus.

“From your Valentine”
According to another story, Valentine was one of the early Christians who was seized and dragged before the Prefect of Rome and jailed for helping some Christian martyrs. He cured the jailor’s daughter of blindness while in jail. When the emperor learned of this miracle he ordered the beheading of Valentine. Valentine is said to have sent the jailor’s daughter a farewell message signed, “From your Valentine”.

In 1969, as part of a larger effort to reduce the number of saint days of purely legendary origin, the Church removed St. Valentine’s Day as an official holiday from its calendar. At present, February 14 is dedicated only to Saint Cyril and Saint Methodius.

In my private practice for over 14 years no matter what my clients have come to see me about, there has always been an issue about a better relationship.

Here are 7 of the most common misconceptions my clients have related to me about having a better relationship. These misconceptions are followed by my perspective on each one of them.

Myth 1: I have to love everything about my partner.

Reality Check 1: You were born pure and pristine. You then learnt behaviors from your parents, teacher, coaches, church etc. (who did their best to teach you about a better relationship). These behaviors have become the backbone for your way of living and having a better relationship.

Perhaps a common behavior that irritates having a better relationship would be leaving the toilet seat up after use. This is merely a behavior and not the essence of the person. However, when you may consider this behavior to be the person, this destroys the concept of a better relationship, creating all kinds of conflict in your need for a better relationship.

Myth 2: Love means that I can fix your partner.

Reality Check 2: You met your partner because of some special quality or charteristic that you admired. You need to accept and allow that quality to flourish in order to allow you and your partner to grow into a better relationship.

You may be unaware that you do not even like yourself. Yet by allowing your partner to grow and expand, you will experience the quality of your partner and the beauty within you, as you begin to enjoy a better relationship.

Myth 3: I am supposed to give up the things I like in order to be in a better relationship.

Reality Check 3: Giving up the things you like to be in a better relationship is like take a knife and cutting away a part of yourself. Your better relationship is based on the uniqueness of you and your partner.

When you give up your uniqueness you rob yourself of a better relationship, your passion and your partner of your creativity.

Myth 4: I will be rescued by a knight in shining armor.

Reality Check 4: You may have been conditioned to live your life expecting someone to take care of you. What happens if that person becomes ill, and is no longer able to take care of you?

Your responsibility in creating a better relationship, is to bring your passion to the table of your relationship. Some days you will be the knight in shining armour and another day your partner will be the knight in shining armour of a better relationship.

You will each get a chance to shine like star in a better relationship because of your strengths and weaknesses.

Myth 5: It costs a lot to be in a relationship.

Reality Check 5: In a material context, a better relationship can be expensive if you think that love is based on the bigger house, car or boat. Although some of these material assets are necessary, they should not be at the expense of creating a better relationship.

Love is creating a better relationship by building a relationship that is based on the simple things in life, like walking and holding hands, going on a picnic (just the two of you), or sharing an ice cream.

Love in a better relationship is not about what you show on the outside but what you express in you heart. Love is not about money or materialism, love just is.

Myth 6: Love in a relationship is or is not a feeling.

Reality Check 6: It is not what you say, it is what you do. You can say, “I love you” which may be merely words and no feelings (action). Love is the action of doing.

If you make a cup of tea for yourself, (the water is boiled), make a cup of tea for your partner. Whether your partner wants the tea or not is irrelevant, it is the thought that counts and the action that cements a better relationship.

Myth 7: I don’t have to work at my relationship.

Reality Check 7: As a child, you learned to creep before you walked. Then you learned the letters of the alphabet. In order to write, you had to learn how to put those letters together to make words and sentences. These sentences then become the way in which you communicated.

When you and your partner stop communicating after learning how to use the letters of the alphabet in sentences, it’s like 2 tape recorders talking to each other – Nobody is at home to enjoy a better relationship.

In summary:

1. Your partner’s behavior in a better relationship is not your partner’s true essence.
2. There is no need to have a clone of yourself. A better relationship requires some variety.
3. Giving up of your uniqueness to be in a better relationship is like throwing out the baby with the bath water.
4. In a better relationship, there are no superior partners, just equal partners.
5. Love in creating a better relationship is not about money and the material assets (although there are important) but the simple things in life.
6. Love in a better relationship is active not passive.
7. Lack of communication crushes your desire for a better relationship.
