This week he teaches us about The Buffalo as a totem.

The Buffalo is a very important Totem, it’s extremely spiritual and a part of all realistic life.

The Buffalo teaches us to understand the direct connection between spirituality and reality and how one dictates the other. We all know how the great herds were decimated by man, and either known or unknowingly decimated cultures and human lives; all that was required to maintain the balance that has been in existence for many generations was and still is respect.

Man has sacrificed much of life for the benefit of himself and in the process, given up much of himself. The Buffalo is directly responsible for numerous religious and spiritual belief systems, cultures, life and death… existence. This totem always represents the essential process in faith or belief and how it applies to reality in its many colors. In past cultures it was life (belief systems are a result of positive conditions) or the golden rule, essential for life to evolve and grow.

With the advent of pollution man is decimating the gifts of earth; things that were taken for granted are now realistically needed for life to thrive; bees, fish, water and air. At this point of human evolution (at least in this country) we have been presented with a choice; Spirituality is a choice and not a way of life as it was before.

The Buffalo shows humanity the importance of prayer and spirituality in life of all time, current and past (this will lead to the future). Many individuals ask me what does spirituality have to do with real life, the answer is everything; it is the force that keeps us going and learning. One thing compliments the other, and is necessary for direction in life.

The various aspects of the Buffalo is a life time study. On the medical wheels of many cultures The Buffalo is the symbol of the North: some correspondences of the Buffalo or North are as follows: color is white, element is air, qualities are knowledge and wisdom, human aspect is mind, time is future and manifestation is science, religion and philosophy. The symbol of the White Buffalo is the highest representation of spirituality (or God) in many native cultures. The Buffalo is also the highest representation of authority, honesty, prayer and abundance.

You Can’t Buy Time.

August 25, 2014, 12:48 AM

By: Marvin L Hicks

Our daily lives are inundated with a crammed to-do list. We are often rushing throughout our day trying to keep up with ourselves. Although technology has improved and simplified our lives, we are as pressed for time as past generations. Often your day seems so full, and you are so pressed for time that it is impossible to get in all there is to do, and yet a little quiet thinking will show that the important things can be easily put into two thirds of the day, and the remaining third is free for rest, or play, or both.

You can feel normally pressed for time; and because of this pressure you can arrange in your mind what best to leave undone, and so relieve the pressure. If one thing seems as important to do as another you can make up your mind that of course you can only do what you have time for, and the remainder must go. You cannot do what you have time to do so well if you are worrying about what you have no time for.

We hurry through life, slowing down just to consume our free time with television, the internet or magazines and newspapers. If you feel like life is passing you by and you do not have the time to do the things that bring you pleasure in life, then you need to examine what is holding you back from managing your time better. Is procrastination taking up most of your day?

Our supply of time is a daily miracle. You wake up in the morning, and your life is filled with twenty-four hours. No one can take it from you. No one receives either more or less than you receive. You alone decide how to spend your time. You can not get into debt of time, you can only waste the passing moment. No matter how you try to stretch it or change it, there will always be only 24 hours in a day.

Time can not be hoarded. Before you can start to focus on how to get more out of your day, you need to be clear on how to use your time more efficiently. Your problem isn’t “not enough time”. It can’t be, because all the time you experience is the time that you create. You create all the time that you experience.

When you feel that you do not have enough time, have a look at what is happening. Every second something big passes by: YOUR LIFE. Your happiness and fulfillment in life is determined by how quick you are to recognize the things you need to change, and how quick you are to act upon them. We worry more about how to make money instead of how to use our time wisely. Time is more valuable than money. Although money can buy you many things, it can not buy you more time.

Questions:

What is your attitude towards the value of time?

In what areas of your life are you wasting time every day?

If you had less than 24 hours a day to do everything, what would you change or do differently?

Are you borrowing time from tomorrow by overextending yourself? In what areas of your life are you borrowing time from?

Do you feel that you are leaving something undone which you would like to do when you have “more time”?

If you’re always in a hurry, or are feeling too much time pressure, what can you drop from your schedule?

Careers of The Zodiac– Virgo

August 23, 2014, 11:49 AM

By: Erin

As we reach the sixth position on the Zodiac chart we reach the sign that possesses a lot of wisdom with Virgo. Virgo, or the virgin as they are symbolized because of their modesty and patience are very respected individuals. This is a sign that has very many different traits and I feel that the careers they would find happiness and find the most success in would definitely be broken down by where within the sign they were born; the decans of Virgo.

What I mean is that there are strengths and weaknesses to Virgo, just like any other sign the difference is that with Virgo’s it seems like it is not as scattered and can be pinpointed by what kind of Virgo you are. For example anyone born between August 23 – September 2 tend to be more on the flamboyant side, very artistic and creative. Those born between September 3 – 12 are usually perfectionists and tend to be overcritical of themselves when it comes to getting things done to their own standards. Finally, September 13 – 22 are the health conscious people and the natural healers of the bunch.

All Virgo’s possess the same general traits; they’re hard working, orderly, sensible and very careful when it comes to money. They’re very successful people.

1. For those Virgo’s born in the first decan and tend to be more creative and bold would be great in the arts. This is a wide field, yes, and that this side of Virgo needs- freedom to explore their creative side. These people have a unique way of looking at things and are very deep thinkers which leads me to believe they would make excellent writers.

This could be novels, journalism, anything along those lines. Another choice for this side of Virgo would be designer or craftsman because it’s behind the scenes while showcasing your handy work for the world to admire. Again, putting the strengths of unique thinking, diligence, and over-all intense attention to small details that most people wouldn’t even think of would make them very successful in these fields. It’s those little bits of detail that make the art a masterpiece.

2. If you find yourself to be more of the super organized perfectionist side of Virgo (usually the second decan), a job that would give you just enough responsibility without overwhelming you would be an executive assistant. This part of Virgo shines when it comes to organization, planning, solving problems and sorting out details. They are good at taking orders from higher level people and like to have some sort of direction and then take full command from there.

Scheduling, bookkeeping, money management, etc. might sound like mundane tasks to the everyday person but for Virgo’s these are things they are good at and enjoy doing. It gives them self-worth and they are very successful in fields like public relations, financial advisor, or human resources.

Let me pause before rounding out with the last of career paths by saying that one of the best qualities of Virgo’s is their genuine need and want to help others. They are always willing to help out a friend in need or help raise awareness for a good cause. This is a sign that does not do well in leadership rolls but they are fully aware of that and they make up for it in small ways by word of mouth when it comes to important issues.

3. As stated above Virgo’s have great hearts in that they care for people’s well-being and they are born with the want to nurture, teach, and help things and people alike grow. This is especially true for the late Virgo’s. They are often very health conscious people as well and care a lot about nutrition and healthy lifestyle habits. When you mix these traits and the fact that they are very analytical, intelligent and patient these Virgo’s would be very successful and happy in the healthcare field.

Doctor, nurse, nutritionist, holistic, etc… The need to feel like someone is being healed because of Virgo is all that matters to them. This is a ever-expanding field especially with holistic centers and different treatments being offered. As a Virgo choosing a career in this field doesn’t limit you to just one area. Virgo’s love the outdoors and being surrounded by nature; incorporate that into this field… teach a yoga class or Reiki healing out in a beautiful area. Help find natural remedies for common ailments.

Virgo, there are so many possibilities out there for you. The world is yours for the taking.

This week he teaches us about The Otter as a totem.

The Otter represents or symbolizes Woman Medicine; which is possessed by both sexes as we all have our female side, as women also possess a male side.

Woman Medicine is a nurturing and intuitive (the ability to emphasize with others feelings and situations in their lives); Men also posses this ability however more in the past then currently, men have been conditioned to suppress their feelings. Otter Medicine people are playful and take great joy in others happiness; it is not gossipy or overly talkative and for sure not jealous; which are considered by the majority of societies to be very negative traits in men and woman.

Otter Medicine people are supportive and nurturing, bringing a smile and a bit of joy to individuals who need it. If The Otter has entered your life as a totem, he is telling you to take life easy and find joy in the simple things; be nurturing, sometimes a laugh or a shoulder to lean on is the best medicine.

Remember to take joy in others accomplishments and be happy for them. A job well done must be appreciated. Be caring of others and help them out if they need it. Do not be overly critical of others; every one makes mistakes; be of assistance if possible and if asked.

The Otter is also saying to bring joy to ones self and others; to put yourself in the other position when trying to solve a problem or issue. Laughter and happiness are some of the rarest emotions and work wonders if used in a positive way.

The Otter is advising you to be happy and bring happiness to all you encounter; however at the same time avoid individuals you consider to be a downer or negative influence. Emotions are contagious and happiness is what we all want. It feels very good.

When The Sun Straddles

August 18, 2014, 2:04 AM

0

By: Adam

I bet you know your Sun sign–your Zodiac sign–and the Sun sign of your lover, your parents, your bestie, etc. And when someone new angers or excites you, you might even try and guess their sign. Your Zodiac sign, also known as your “Sun sign” or your “Star sign” is a quick and easy Astrology moniker for the position of the Sun at the time of your birth. But this sign may not be true to your nature, and the associated horoscope may not be very accurate for you.

Haven’t you noticed how some folks are born in one sign yet emanate the attributes of the preceding or following Sign? It happens all the time. We are in a solar system in which all parts are moving; nothing is ever sitting still. This means the odds of being 100% of a given Sun sign are slim–you would have to know the exact time of your birth, and location of your birth, in order to determine if you were born at a particular zenith. Some people are born so close to that dividing line between Sun signs they delight us with their multiplicity.

What I am referring to today are those delightful beings who are born in that colorful misty zone of when one sign tapers into the next sign, and their attributes and characteristics are filled with the verisimilitude of neighboring signs. The Cusp. You’ve heard it time and time again, “I was born on the Cusp.” And someone born so close to the border between signs seldom fails to delight us or confuse us with their mix of traits. For example, someone born on August 20th is a Leo but they are also within a day or two, respectively, of being Virgo. So which are they? It is hard to say; sort of like asking is 11:50am still morning or is it noon? Okay. Then by that rationale if you are 39 years young, and you are filling out a personal ad, are you in your 30s or your 40s? You see. So we call it the Cusp. And since this blog is posting right on the Leo/Virgo cusp, let’s dig a little deeper into Leo/Virgo.

On the Leo side we see fire, the need to inspire, the hunger to create and light things up; a being who soars when they are the center of attention; a being who wants to win and who will never be complacent. Leos want to delight us and they want to be wanted. They are fiercely loyal and they spoil the ones they love. Some of the more dominantly Leo personalities of our time are Jennifer Lopez, Johnny Depp, Mick Jagger, Halle Berry, Madonna, Monica Lewinsky, Helen Mirren, Sandra Bullock, and last but not least, Barack Obama.

On the Virgo side we see beings who are practical, reliable, acute attention to detail, and the waters run oh-so deep. Virgos are not afraid to dive in, analyze, and then report back the new parameters of perfection. Some of the more famous Virgos of our time are Sophia Loren, Patsy Cline, Leonard Cohen, Sean Connery, Mother Theresa, Leo Tolstoy, Mary Shelley, and so forth (the sign of Virgo is teaming with writers, by the way).

So when a Leo is born close to the line between Leo and Virgo are they a Leo with Virgo traits and profluences (undercurrents)? Yep. Will a Virgo born close to the line between Leo and Virgo be a Virgo with Leo traits and profluences (undercurrents)? Yes! These Leo/Virgo and Virgo/Leo cusps often appear as the Obi Wan Kenobi type, the Yoda, the light-bearer who is insanely creative but prefers to use their godly faculties for uplifting humanity, creating a better world–e.g., Robert Redford, Robert Plant, Sean Penn, Amy Adams, Kirsten Wiig, Ray Bradbury, Bill Clinton, Kobe Bryant, HP Lovecraft, and so forth.

Okay, you say, great! But when is a sign on the cusp and not on the cusp? Am I on a cusp?

Western Astrology is based on two older Chaldean systems where each sign is divided into 10-degree arcs or periods called decanates or decans, with each sign having three decans. Each decan is equal to a 10-day period, respectively. I say respectively because, well, three decans for each sign equals 360 degrees and there are 365 days in a year–hence, some decans vary by a day or two from year to year. The cusp is when a Sun sign is in the last 5 degrees as it exits a sign, or the first 5 degrees as it enters a sign. This works out to be somewhere between the last 5 days of one Sun sign and the first 5 days of another Sun sign, e.g., August 16 we started the Leo/Virgo cusp. The Sun actually straddles both signs for a brief period. And if you were born on a cusp you know how it feels to be one sign and have the roaring traits and profluences of another sign.

The only way to really know your specific traits and influences is to have an accurate chart drawn up with the date, time and location of your birth. However, cusps generally fall on the following time ranges:

April 16 to April 26: Aries/Taurus
May 16 to May 26: Taurus/Gemini
June 16 to June 26: Gemini/Cancer
July 16 to July 26: Cancer/Leo
August 16 to August 26: Leo/Virgo
September 16 to September 26: Virgo/Libra
October 16 to October 26: Libra/Scorpio
November 16 to November 26: Scorpio/Sagittarius
December 16 to December 26: Sagittarius/Capricorn
January 16 to January 26: Capricorn/Aquarius
February 16 to February 26: Aquarius/Pisces
March 16 to March 26: Pisces/Aries

What does all this mean to you. The Sun sign generally influences your basic personality; it’s your ego, the self you present to the world that most people know. Being born on the cusp of two signs means you have influences from the two different Sun signs. How influential each sign may be depends on the actual time and place you were born. The closer you are to the moment of the transition, the more balanced the influence from the two different signs will be. The further you were born from the moment of transition, the more one sign will be dominant than the other.

Next month we will discuss cusps further as they apply to Virgo and Libra.

Depression can be crippling. Mental problems may develop into physical problems too, so taking care of your depression can greatly benefit your health. By following some simple advice, you may be able to beat your depression and get on with your life. Depression is sometimes chronic, but it can be managed.

If you are depressed, you should try to work on something productive for at least 30-60 minutes per day. Doing absolutely nothing all day can cause a vicious cycle where you not only have your “base” depression symptoms, but also depression because you are unable to get anything done.

In addition to a healthy diet you should also invest in starting some kind of exercise that you enjoy. This can be something as simple as regular walks or even something as organized as a team sport. This will help you to feel better physically and will probably have effects on your mental life as well.

Try your hardest to maintain a healthy circle of friends and not just one best friend who you tell everything to. Your depression will cause even the best of friends to feel drained so it is essential that you spread these conversations out among several of your closest friends to even it out.

If you are a parent, and you start to feel a bout of depression coming on try to find a way for your children to not be around you. If they are older, you can leave them home alone, but if they are younger children, you should have a close friend on standby to watch them.

Drink plenty of water. Everyone knows that plenty of water is essential to body health, however, it is also crucial to mental health. Having a good and positive attitude is physically more difficult when you are dehydrated. Dehydration can cause your brain to begin to shut down, causing even a normally happy person to become down.

See your doctor. Not only is depression a real disease on its own, it can also be a symptom of other underlying illnesses. Only your doctor will be able to tell you what type of depression you are suffering from or if your symptoms are caused by another ailment. In addition, while many forms of depression can be treated without medication, it can also be caused by a chemical imbalance in the brain necessitating the use of medication for effective treatment.

Exercise. Studies have shown that people who exercise have lower rates of depression, and that those with depression can help their condition by doing some kind of exercise. Exercising is not only great for your physical health but for your mental health as well, so start an exercise program. There are many to choose from, and you’ll feel much better.

So, hopefully you have found some useful information on dealing with your depression. By following the tips discussed above, you can at least get some relief. Try to be positive about trying out the suggestions – they could be just what you need to rediscover the joy in your life. Keep your head up!

Parallel Lives

August 11, 2014, 12:18 AM

0

By: Alex

Most people have probably heard about past livest, but few know about parallel lives. I hadn’t either until I started doing workshops in 1994 with Dr. Verna Yater. She explained that the soul can animate more than one physical body, and that many people had parallel lives during WWII because they had to do a lot of spiritual work in a very short period of time, in order to be ready for the times we are in now and in the times to come. I didn’t know it then but apparently I was one of them.

As the workshops progressed I found out that I had had three parallel lives during WWII. In the first, I was a 12 year old Jewish boy who was sent to one of the concentration camps and survived. I found out later that I had a brother with me there and I helped him survive also. We were eventually liberated by the Americans, and later on I lived in France. I think I played the piano for a while. At the end I ran out into the street for some reason and was hit by a car.

In my second parallel life during WWII I was a Gestapo agent. That was not a life to be proud of, for sure. I did a lot of horrible things. I was very much like the stereotype image of the Gestapo agents that are portrayed in the movies. It was nerve wracking to say the least. I was a chain smoker in that life and I think I served under Himmler. Eventually I just said “I can’t do this anymore” and I was shot for treason by one of my co-workers.

In my third parallel life I was an SS officer in the German Army. Apparently I made it through officer school but I wasn’t the brightest in my class by far. I think I lacked initiative so I didn’t get very good assignments later. I became second in command at a POW camp in Poland later on in the war. I don’t think there was anything spectacular about that life. Like everyone else, I just followed orders and hoped to survive the war. At the end of the war the Russians advanced on our camp on their way to Germany. They hated us so much they just shot us and didn’t give us time to surrender.

People wonder how it was that I could be both a Gestapo Agent and a Jewish boy in a concentration camp at the same time. I was told that I had to go through both extremes in order to achieve balance. It sounds contradictory I know, but then again there is a different kind of logic operating at the soul level.

I’ve pretty much processed these past lives, but I found out yesterday that in my present life I also have a parallel life going on. This came up as the answer to a question. Years ago I learned that if you ask yourself a question you will always get an answer. The trick is to ask the right question. By now you are wondering what I’m talking about.

In my case I asked what keeps or prevents me from doing photography. In my present life I spent 4 years in college getting a degree in it, spent several years after that working in a photo lab, another year working for a couple of photographers, and then spent 5 years in the Army as a photographer. But I never tried to make it on my own as a photographer and I keep going back and forth about it. I just can’t seem to bring myself to do it.

The answer I got to my question was an image of a firefighter in a yellow uniform with a yellow helmet. I asked Kat, one of Foretell’s psychics, whether the image was symbolic, from a past life, or from a parallel life. She said it was from a parallel life. It felt like this firefighter lived in the Northwest, possibly Washington state. Kat said he lived in a town in the mountains. This was interesting because I had a girlfriend in Seattle back in 1995 who saw me as a firefighter, but at the time I thought her vision was symbolic.

I asked Kat how this parallel life related to my question about doing photography. Kat said this firefighter was constantly dealing with life or death situations and he just didn’t have the time or energy for it. That makes sense to me, but it’s hard for me to understand how all that can bleed through into my life and affect me so strongly as well. Unfortunately, there are still a lot of things I don’t understand and for now this is one of them. Your mileage may vary.

Did you miss out on the Fire Signs (Aries, Leo, and Sagittarius), the Earth Signs (Taurus, Virgo, and Capricorn), or the Air Signs (Gemini, Libra, and Aquarius) blogs? No worries, You can check out the fire sign addition here, the Earth Sign blog here, and the Air Sign blog here.

Cancer: Cancer’s are pretty imaginative people and enjoy trying new things but with flavors they are already familiar with and know they enjoy. Born under the sign of the carb they do tend to like drinks that have a bit of an “overkill” taste to most; what I mean is their motto is “go big or go home.” Cancers enjoy classic flavors like mint, coconut, hazelnut, chocolate, vanilla, etc. and they would love any kind of drink experimenting with these familiar flavors.

Alcoholic- THE NUTELLA COCKTAIL

Ingredients:

1 oz. of Vanilla Vodka

1/2 oz. of Frangelico

1/2 oz. of Creme de Cacao

Nutella

Coconut Flakes

Cherries

Directions:

Add Vodka, Frangelico, Creme de Cacao, and a scoop of Nutella to a shaker with ice and shake for about 30 seconds. Take a plate or bowl (bigger than your glass) and spoon some of your Nutella onto there so that you can rim your glass with the Nutella. Get enough on there so that you can get a good bit of coconut flakes on there. Pour the mixture and ice into your garnished glass and add a cherry and enjoy your chocolatey delight.

Scorpio: Scorpios are very intense. This is probably the boldest sign of the zodiac so they need a very no hassle option that will get the job done. Scorpios tend to like to eat their liquor…example, jello shots, alcohol infused fruits, etc. Scorpios enjoy flavors that have a bit of a sting like whiskey and they also enjoy entertaining so I went with what I think would satisfy this rather picky sign. Sticking to the basics.

JACK DANIELS HONEY INFUSED WATERMELON

Ingredients:

Large Watermelon

3-4 Bottles of Jack Daniels Honey Flavored Whiskey

Directions:

Cut out 3-4 holes (however many bottles of whiskey you got) into your watermelon. Make them about as wide and as deep as the neck of the bottles. You are going to need an extra set of hands for this one because I find its better if you have someone to hold the watermelon over the open bottles where the holes are cut to angle them in. If you do not have that option then place the watermelon in the sink and quickly jam the bottles into the cut holes and let the water melon sit with the bottles upside-down for 24-48 hours. Take a pan or a bowl and chop up your delicious watermelon and enjoy it’s special kick just for you.

Pisces: Born under the sign of the fish I went with the obvious choice here. Pisces are very imaginative people and they like the look of this drink and also the fact that they can get creative with the ingredients and how they decorate their fish bowl.

THE PISCES FISH BOWL

Ingredients:

6 oz. of Vodka of Your Choice

6 oz. of Coconut Rum

4 oz. of Peach Schnapps

4 oz. of UV Blue Vodka

2 Ltr. Bottle of Sprite or Similar Soda

Nerds Candies

Swedish Fish Candies

Oranges/Cherries (Whichever Preferred)

Directions:

Mix vodkas, rum, schnapps and soda in a large container and put aside until ready to serve. Prep your fish bowls. *Note: you can find actual glass or plastic fishbowls at the dollar store sometimes, if not there then the craft store for about $3-$4. Fill the bottom of the fishbowls with the Nerds candy and fill the rest up with ice and Sweedish Fish Candy and then pour your drink mix into the fishbowls. Garnish with slices of oranges or cherries (optional) to add more flavor. Get some fun straws and enjoy.

This week he teaches us about The Stork as Totem.

The Stork represents new beginnings as in a spiritual or physical beginning (or both). In all new endeavors there is a time of adaptation. Timing is very important if the endeavor is important to you such as a new life, a new spiritual path, or a new project. As in any new adaptation in life there is a time of anticipation, a time of actuality, and adaptation in to ones life.

The Stork is telling an individual that this should be a time of great joy, and satisfaction to mind, body, and spirit (which all compliment each other.) As with all things, if nurtured it will grow, if not it will not grow to fruition, or the best that it could be.

The presence of stork or should I say a nesting Stork is considered to be very good luck; a Stork will not nest in a screenful environment; and this is one thing a stork means, a peaceful environment, one that nurtures growth and is conducive to security, expansion of mind and joy. The Stork indicates there is a need for action in ones life; weather it is a spiritual path, or the need to pay special attention to an individual or project, or one self.

The Stork assists with the process of new beginnings, so it is met with relaxation and care, (this process insures self satisfaction and happiness). To many people spend the greatest part or entire life in preparation for important endeavors, the presence of stork in you lives path means to put things in to action, what you need to know will come during the process, and enable an individual to posses confidence and strength. So enjoy the ride.
