Accessories of The Zodiac – Leo

Being probably one of the fiercest signs in the Zodiac chart, Leo’s are very flamboyant individuals. Represented by the symbol of The Lion, Leo is a very proud sign and usually has a very bold personality. They love being the center of attention and this is easily achieved due to their natural charm and magnetism.

This is a sign that is all about the wow factor so bold statement jewelry is a must have for any stylish Leo. Ruled by the Sun, these ferocious fashionistas enjoy gold pieces that make them feel more regal. This is a sign that is always ahead of the game when it comes to style.

As a Stella and Dot stylist, the first piece that comes to my attention while thinking of Leo is the Freya Fringe Necklace. This particular statement necklace can be worn many different ways. The Freya reminds me of a lion’s mane because of the hues in the mixed metal featherweight fringe. I personally own this piece and get compliments wherever I go. It catches light as it moves along with you and just grabs the eye.

A Leo that wants to really stay the show would love the Pegasus Necklace. Many celebrities have been seen wearing this piece such as fellow Leo, Kathy Lee Gifford, and other A listers like Kim and Kourtney Kardashian and Pretty Little Liars star Shay Mitchell. This statement necklace definitely steals the show. For a more toned down version of this necklace I could recommend the Essential Fringe Necklace.

A staple in any fashion forward gals collection is the Rebel Pendant Necklace. Anna Kendrick, Selena Gomez, and everyone’s favorite fashionable Friend Lisa Kudrow are just some of the celebrities seen rocking this great piece.

Another famous Leo joining in on the Stella and Dot style is Katy Perry. She’s grabbing all the attention with her Renegade Cluster Bracelet. This is an awesome piece and another that can be seen on some of todays hottest stars. The Renegade Cluster bracelet will have you feeling like a rockstar with its gold plated spikes and black diamond pave beads. Create an awesome arm party and add a bit more bling to really turn heads by pairing it with The Artisan Marquis Cuff or singer Gwen Stefani’s favorite, the Pearl Spike Cuff in gold.

Finish up your look with our best sellers, the gold Pave Triangle Path Ear Climbers. Ear climbers are quickly becoming this years hottest trend.

Those born under the sign of The Ram have a very bold and adventurous personality that carries over to their style. Aries are fashion trendsetters and are not afraid of rocking bold and daring pieces. They are known to add a pop of color with their accessories such as orange and red hues.

No matter the occasion, Aries will go for statement pieces that draw attention to them. Aries are all about trying out fresh new fashions and like to be ahead of the trends.

Stella and Dot is becoming very popular among todays A-listers. In staying up to date with the latest trends, a statement piece from Stella and Dot such as the Bliss Statement Necklace would be the perfect accessory for this fire sign.

The Bliss Statement necklace has a mix of vibrant stones and vintage gold chain. The necklace is also versatile for when Aries want to mix it up a bit. As a 3 in 1 piece, like many pieces from Stella and Dot, it can be worn a variety of ways.

With this Bliss Statement necklace any Aries woman can wear it as a whole for when they want to make their outfit pop or they can detach the gold strands and wear it separately when they just want to make a smaller statement. This is the PERFECT piece for any Aries.

Cusp of Oscillation

Date Range: July 19th through July 25th, respectively.

If we were to anthropomorphize a rollercoaster, the rollercoaster would really have no problem going from high to low, shy to stealing the show, dry to juicy, and so forth. To the rollercoaster stasis of any kind is obtuse, and movement (the bigger the better, the more frequent the better) is rockin’ right on. Cancer-Leo cuspers are volatile. They are rollercoasters. Pendulums allergic to stillness. Physical movement, emotional movement: it is all the same to them. It is the steam of water hitting fire that feeds them. The fastest way to success for one of these cuspers is to do one of the following: encourage self-reliance and focus upon that “happy medium”; the middle ground, the peace in the center. Robin Williams often joked about adjusting to himself first and foremost, and then the world adjusted itself to him. This, he believed, brought a sense of grace found no where else. And this is true, and this is one of astrology’s biggest ironies. A Cancer-Leo cusper focused on the happy-middle is the epitome of grace, creativity and spontaneity. The second fastest way to success for a Cancer-Leo cusper is to focus upon something bigger than one’s self (a cause), and this leads to not taking yourself too seriously yet channeling the great steam of contrast into something big and beautiful.

What they need: These cuspers need a cause, a project, a mission, a legacy that needs them, something that is and will be bigger than what they are by themselves.

Relationships: In relationships these cuspers are exactly as you would guess when you mix fire and water: steamy. And as I mentioned above, give them something big to empower, bigger than themselves, and you will have a steam-engine on your hands; a real “Engine That Could.”

Strengths: The perfect shotgun rider. Loving. They believe in love at first sight. They want everyone to be in love. They are very creative and expressive.

Weaknesses: Volatile (pendulum-like, especially after a big push). Melodramatic. Self-absorbed. Dependent. Narcissistic.

What they love: They love to be in love. They love the process of being in love, the emotional ride from zero to sixty. Some people want the end and are anxious until they get it. Not these cuspers; they want the ride, the oscillation and momentum, the dark versus light angst of the journey. Ask Hemingway and old Santiago who catches the BIGGEST fish ever yet all the glory gets eaten by an unforgiving sea–such melodrama, such contrast.

Name of Cusp: CUSP OF OSCILLATION, aka CUSP OF ROLLERCOASTER RIDES

Cusp of Magic Famous Personalities: Willem Dafoe, David Spade, Rufus Wainwright, Woody Harrelson, Amelia Earhart, Jennifer Lopez, Barry Bonds, Zelda Fitzgerald, Matt LeBlanc, Edgar Degas, Campbell Scott, Elizabeth McGovern, Carlos Santana, Natalie Wood, Kim Carnes, Ernest Hemingway, Robin Williams, Jon Lovitz, Josh Hartnett, Cat Stevens, and so forth.

CUSP OF MAGIC

June 17, 2015, 12:00 AM

By: Adam

Date Range: June 17th through June 23rd, respectively.

Khalil Gibran once wrote, “Love seeks only to fulfill itself.” Gemini-Cancer cuspers understand this concept as meaning real fulfillment and expansion can be found in the outpouring of love. The more you give, the more that will well-up inside you to be given away. There are objects in our universe, and our solar system, that give off more energy than they devour. The planets Jupiter and Saturn are just like the Gemini-Cancer cuspers, they radiate more energy than they receive from the sun. Now replace “energy” with “love” and “sun” with “others,” and you will really understand the Gemini-Cancer cuspers. These beings are made to radiate (give) love.

If you were born on the Gemini-Cancer cusp, from about June 17 to June 23, you are indeed a tireless source of magic! Magic as in brightens the room, brightens the home, hosts the get-togethers, Magic as in beauty and kindness that shines (roars) from within. Emotions can run high for those born on “The Cusp of Magic,” but with love and affection from plenty of friends and family, and plenty of loved ones to channel their radiance towards, you can minimize any sort of supernova event from these glorious celestials.

What they need: Gemini-Cancer cuspers need someone to love. They need to channel the joyful waters from inside them into a partnership that will be bigger than what they are by themselves. They need consistency of presence. No different than those great rivers that channel into the oceans and the seas. They are at their best when they have eager recipients to whom they may aim those warm torrents that well-up from within. They also need thick skin. Lots of it.

Relationships: Remember, Gemini-Cancer cuspers are genuinely curious and active creatures, and this means they need a partner that is “in it” regarding the relationship–that is, someone that can receive love. Additionally, these cuspers will brighten up family get-togethers with effortless aplomb.

Strengths: Adding light to situations. Hosting parties, receptions, giving love to another. These are very curious creatures and will excel at studying history, philosophy, religion, etc., especially if they can discuss it with a loved one later. These cuspers are exceptional with children.

Weaknesses: The gentle mixing of logic and emotions; these cuspers struggle mixing their logic and emotions. Additionally, although their ability to find inspiration in the most ordinary of things is elite, they struggle feeling complete unless they have love, romance and family.

What they love: The ecstatic experience–intense mental states. Close ties with loved ones. Being at home. Creating a happy home.

Name of Cusp: Cusp of Magic

Cusp of Magic Famous Personalities: Randy Couture, Kathleen Turner, June Carter Cash, Quinton Rampage Jackson, Paula Abdul, Meryl Streep, Barry Manilow, Juliette Lewis (one of my favorites), Cindi Lauper, Ann Murray, Martin Landau, and Lindsay Wagner (the Bionic Woman).

Cusp Of Energy

May 18, 2015, 5:04 AM

By: Adam

Dearest Soccer Moms: start your engines. Summer is here and there are places to go, people to see. And if you are connected to anyone at all that was born on the Taurus-Gemini cusp, then you probably know that the jubilant wildness of a youth just released to summer vacation pales in comparison to the tireless, focused, buzz-saw manner of a Taurus-Gemini cusper. Yep. The cusp of the lumbering, sturdy/stubborn Taurus (earth) energy mixing with the do-it-all, crazy-endurance dust-devil energy of Gemini is here and so too are the birthdays of these octane beings. In fact, a dust-devil gyrating across a desert flat is an excellent metaphor for the Taurus-Gemini cusper (a dust-devil that won’t fade or tire). If I remember correctly, the Taurus-Gemini cusp was once called the “Cusp of Eternal Youth” and/or the “Cusp of Energy” (not as in needing energy, but as in having energy).

Additionally, this is not the tangential energy of mania. This is focused go-getter energy. Youthful, focused, can-do energy. These cuspers are physically strong, and mentally agile; this makes them stable and driven. These cuspers are also very, very communicative and clever, which means not only are they champs at adapting to a diverse array of people and situations, they get-off on complex goals and scenarios. And just between you and me, if you are looking for someone who enjoys fine food, alcohol, and can be rousing in any type of crowd this is the cusper to bring with you.

Date Range: May 17th to May 23rd, respectively.

What they need: Balance. Someone to both keep up with them and yet remind them about the dangers of burning candles at both ends, because these cuspers will want to do everything and want to do it a lot. I imagine 90% of the world’s population of do-it-yourself zealots are Taurus-Gemini cupsers.

Relationships: Resilient. Courageous. They need to go from zero to sixty rather quickly. This means dating for years on end won’t work. Being engaged for years on end won’t work either. For all you men out there who tend to pull back as soon as the pink cloud of the honeymoon phase is over, I would suggest dating a different astrological sign.

Strengths: Fearlessness. Never a slow-mover. Prolific once they find their mission/s in life.

Weaknesses: Overindulgence. Trying to do too much. A tendency to end up in a burned out state.

What they love: They love pleasure; Taurus and Gemini are pleasure loving signs through and through. They love to do it all. Do not challenge one of these cuspers to an eating or drinking duel. They’ll whoop you, and they’ll whoop you bad.

Name of Cusp: Cusp of Energy.

Cusp of Energy Famous Personalities: Patti Labelle, Bob Dylan, Malcolm X, Cher, and so on.

Got your mixing bowl ready? Great! Imagine taking the most beautiful being you have ever seen–I mean a real specimen, that one person that brought blush after blush from your face every time you looked at them, caused your socks to vanish from your feet anytime you interacted with them–and then mix their tendencies and emotional attributes with those of the Marine Corps Drill Instructor from Stanley Kubrick’s movie Full Metal Jacket.

Okay.

What do you get?

A hard driving mix of profluences from two passionate luminaries: Venus and Pluto, which is a Super Sexy combination with a capital S times two. Flamboyance, highfalutin sexuality, diamond-hard confidence and leadership abilities at a level that’s almost too much to handle. Then add to that a psycho-insistent particularity for doing things in certain ways. In other words, you have a Libra-Scorpio cusper.

The Cusp of Drama and Criticism. Wanna bet? I did not give Libra-Scorpio cuspers that name. The astrologers who came along before me did, and now that I have had some time to observe the Libra-Scorpio cuspers, I don’t let the moniker scare me. Their criticism is usually constructive, as they just want to make things better for everyone. Their flare for drama is because they care passionately about life, work and the people in their lives; they will and do channel their emotions into action and they do not stuff their feelings back down.

These Libra-Scorpio cuspers have Libra’s brilliant judgment and Scorpio’s keen precision, which makes them a force to be reckoned with. They often have such big personalities, and are so accomplished, they must watch out for insisting that every little thing be completed their own particular way. These amazing beings are known for their ambition and intensity, mystical, loyal, romantic and playful attitudes (not to mention a bit dictatorial). They do work hard and have a strong sense of sexuality about them.

Some things to note about our beloved Libra-Scorpio cuspers:

Date Range: October 19th through October 25th.

What they need: The proverbial chill-pill. These cuspers will be much happier if they can give their inner critic a day off once in a while and try to have fun without an agenda. Spontaneity and fun.

Relationships: Libra-Scorpio cuspers make fiercely loyal partners. The problems arise when they are grouchy–this is when their tendency will be to pick at the truth from every available angle, and then they will invent new angles from which to cross-examine.

Strengths: Focused, competent, sexy, charming, intellectual, honest. Scorpios have an erroneous reputation as being cheaters. This is hype at best, and the loyalty of Scorpios is truly visible in the Libra-Scorpio cusper’s penchant for honesty. Similarly, get caught in a lie with them and you will be hung out to dry.

Weaknesses: Sarcastic, picky, self-absorbed, critical, dictatorial.

What they love: They love to feel informed: if you haven’t guessed by now these cuspers love to “get to the bottom” of every situation in which they are involved. They love to feel balanced and feel like they have a grip on how their time is spent: Libra is ruled by thought and intellect, while Scorpio is about powerful and deep-seated emotions. This can result in a conflict between head and heart. Hence, Libra-Scorpio cuspers feel their best when they are balanced and when everything they do is “according to schedule.”

Name of Cusp: The Cusp of Drama and Criticism.

Cusp of Drama and Criticism Famous Personalities: Johnny Carson, Kim Kardashian, Pablo Picasso, Joyce Brothers, Snoop Dogg, Tom Petty, Ryan Reynolds, Deepak Chopra, Minnie Pearl, Dwight Yoakam.

Hope to see you next month for the Cusp of Revolution!

Virgo-Libra, Cusp of Beauty

September 19, 2014, 12:00 AM

1

By: Adam

Heard of “Beauty and the Beast?” Me too. But have you heard of “Beauty and the Intellectual?” Beauty and the intellectual is exactly what you get on the cusp of Virgo-Libra (Cusp of Beauty), with Virgo being ruled by Mercury (messenger of the gods, ruler of awareness, communication and intellect) and Libra being ruled by Venus (the Goddess of Love).

There are two things to note about Venus before we can continue: (1.) Venus is actually the diurnal ruler of Libra, which basically means Librans have a tendency to be very outward in their expression of Venusian tendencies. Venus rules our sentiments, what we value, and the pleasure we take in life. Grace, charm, and beauty are all ruled by Venus. Through Venus we learn about our tastes, pleasures, artistic inclinations, hankerings, and what makes us happy. (2.) In Chaldean astrology each sign is broken down into decans (10 degree/day periods, approximately) and each decan has its own luminary as an influence, with three rulers per sign. Both the 3rd decan of Virgo and the first decan of Libra are ruled by Venus. So if you are born in the Cusp of Beauty, your Venusian qualities will have a tendency to be quite pronounced–you might even say you are a double-Venus.

Some things to note about our beloved Virgo-Libra cuspers:

Date Range: September 19 to September 25.

What they need: Virgo-Libra cuspers need to keep their lives in order and everything running smoothly and looking good in order to prevent anxiety. Taskmasters please raise your hand. From an outsider looking in perspective, this makes Virgo-Libra cuspers look like they have a vice-grip on control. If you live with one you probably have a chore list issued weekly and have to plan ahead of time to avoid the evil eye.

Relationships: If you are in a relationship with a Virgo-Libra, they don’t want to be a priority per se, but you better be real skilled at making the relationship a priority.

Strengths: Attractive, intellectual, communicative, artistic, social, sensuous. The sense of beauty comes out best when the Virgo-Libra cuspers are productive/creative–e.g., Bruce Springsteen.

Weaknesses: Allergic to complacency, detached, perfectionist, nervous, strict. My father once told me that most perfectionists were fake, that they didn’t really care about being perfect, they were simply frightened of being wrong; fear of being wrong is not perfection. Virgo-Libra cuspers, on the other hand, are the real deal perfectionists. They get off on setting the bar at new heights and they view mistakes as learning material.

What they love: Objects of beauty, including people, art, fashion, home furnishings, nature and any loveliness or finery you can look at, buy or attach to your being.

Name of Cusp: The Cusp of Beauty.

Cusp of Beauty Famous Personalities: Jimmy Fallon, Sophia Loren, Bill Murray, Stephen King, Scott Baio (Chachi), Patrick Breeding, Ray Charles, Mickey Rooney, Ani DiFranco, Joan Jett, Jeremy Irons, Ray Charles, Bruce Springsteen (the Boss) and the list goes on.

Next month: Libra-Scorpio! Cusp of Drama & Criticism. Yikes.

When The Sun Straddles

August 18, 2014, 2:04 AM

By: Adam

I bet you know your Sun sign–your Zodiac sign–and the Sun sign of your lover, your parents, your bestie, etc. And when someone new angers or excites you, you might even try and guess their sign. Your Zodiac sign, also known as your “Sun sign” or your “Star sign” is a quick and easy Astrology moniker for the position of the Sun at the time of your birth. But this sign may not be true to your nature, and the associated horoscope may not be very accurate for you.

Haven’t you noticed how some folks are born in one sign yet emanate the attributes of the preceding or following Sign? It happens all the time. We are in a solar system in which all parts are moving; nothing is ever sitting still. This means the odds of being 100% of a given Sun sign are slim–you would have to know the exact time of your birth, and location of your birth, in order to determine if you were born at a particular zenith. Some people are born so close to that dividing line between Sun signs they delight us with their multiplicity.

What I am referring to today are those delightful beings who are born in that colorful misty zone of when one sign tapers into the next sign, and their attributes and characteristics are filled with the verisimilitude of neighboring signs. The Cusp. You’ve heard it time and time again, “I was born on the Cusp.” And someone born so close to the border between signs seldom fails to delight us or confuse us with their mix of traits. For example, someone born on August 20th is a Leo but they are also within a day or two, respectively, of being Virgo. So which are they? It is hard to say; sort of like asking is 11:50am still morning or is it noon? Okay. Then by that rationale if you are 39 years young, and you are filling out a personal ad, are you in your 30s or your 40s? You see. So we call it the Cusp. And since this blog is posting right on the Leo/Virgo cusp, let’s dig a little deeper into Leo/Virgo.

On the Leo side we see fire, the need to inspire, the hunger to create and light things up; a being who soars when they are the center of attention; a being who wants to win and who will never be complacent. Leos want to delight us and they want to be wanted. They are fiercely loyal and they spoil the ones they love. Some of the more dominantly Leo personalities of our time are Jennifer Lopez, Johnny Depp, Mick Jagger, Halle Berry, Madonna, Monica Lewinsky, Helen Mirren, Sandra Bullock, and last but not least, Barack Obama.

On the Virgo side we see beings who are practical, reliable, acute attention to detail, and the waters run oh-so deep. Virgos are not afraid to dive in, analyze, and then report back the new parameters of perfection. Some of the more famous Virgos of our time are Sophia Loren, Patsy Cline, Leonard Cohen, Sean Connery, Mother Theresa, Leo Tolstoy, Mary Shelley, and so forth (the sign of Virgo is teaming with writers, by the way).

So when a Leo is born close to the line between Leo and Virgo are they a Leo with Virgo traits and profluences (undercurrents)? Yep. Will a Virgo born close to the line between Leo and Virgo be a Virgo with Leo traits and profluences (undercurrents)? Yes! These Leo/Virgo and Virgo/Leo cusps often appear as the Obi Wan Kenobi type, the Yoda, the light-bearer who is insanely creative but prefers to use their godly faculties for uplifting humanity, creating a better world–e.g., Robert Redford, Robert Plant, Sean Penn, Amy Adams, Kirsten Wiig, Ray Bradbury, Bill Clinton, Kobe Bryant, HP Lovecraft, and so forth.

Okay, you say, great! But when is a sign on the cusp and not on the cusp? Am I on a cusp?

Western Astrology is based on two older Chaldean systems where each sign is divided into 10-degree arcs or periods called decanates or decans, with each sign having three decans. Each decan is equal to a 10-day period, respectively. I say respectively because, well, three decans for each sign equals 360 degrees and there are 365 days in a year–hence, some decans vary by a day or two from year to year. The cusp is when a Sun sign is in the last 5 degrees as it exits a sign, or the first 5 degrees as it enters a sign. This works out to be somewhere between the last 5 days of one Sun sign and the first 5 days of another Sun sign, e.g., August 16 we started the Leo/Virgo cusp. The Sun actually straddles both signs for a brief period. And if you were born on a cusp you know how it feels to be one sign and have the roaring traits and profluences of another sign.

The only way to really know your specific traits and influences is to have an accurate chart drawn up with the date, time and location of your birth. However, cusps generally fall on the following time ranges:

April 16 to April 26: Aries/Taurus
May 16 to May 26: Taurus/Gemini
June 16 to June 26: Gemini/Cancer
July 16 to July 26: Cancer/Leo
August 16 to August 26: Leo/Virgo
September 16 to September 26: Virgo/Libra
October 16 to October 26: Libra/Scorpio
November 16 to November 26: Scorpio/Sagittarius
December 16 to December 26: Sagittarius/Capricorn
January 16 to January 26: Capricorn/Aquarius
February 16 to February 26: Aquarius/Pisces
March 16 to March 26: Pisces/Aries

What does all this mean to you. The Sun sign generally influences your basic personality; it’s your ego, the self you present to the world that most people know. Being born on the cusp of two signs means you have influences from the two different Sun signs. How influential each sign may be depends on the actual time and place you were born. The closer you are to the moment of the transition, the more balanced the influence from the two different signs will be. The further you were born from the moment of transition, the more one sign will be dominant than the other.

Next month we will discuss cusps further as they apply to Virgo and Libra.

Pisces Style

February 18, 2014, 2:00 PM

By: Erin

As we come to the last sign of the zodiac chart, we round out our installment of styles of the zodiac with Pisces. Being born under the sign of the fish and ruled by water, your closet is usually filled with many shades of greens and blues.

Like the ocean you are not afraid to add bright colors like coral hues or pastels to your outfits. You believe in trying out new patterns and styles because your closet and jewelry box should be as versatile as the waves.  Pisces are great at keeping the balance between sexy, cute, fun, and sophisticated – which is a tough job but you are able to pull it off without missing a beat.

Everyday Fashion for Pisces Woman:

Free flowing and colorful is what Pisces women are all about when it comes to daily outings. You are going to see lots of pastel colors in blues, greens, yellows, corals primarily. Like I previously mentioned, Pisces women are pretty versatile in their fashion so the everyday outfit can range anywhere from a flirty free flowing tunic and pair of for fitting pants to a colorful dress or pant suit. One thing is a definite though, Pisces women love open-toed heels! They believe the open-toe heel completes any outfit.

The ever so sassy and stylish Niecy Nash is the picture perfect celebrity Pisces in her pastel yellow pant suit. Pictured here on the red carpet wearing a light, low cut shirt tied at her waist line (which is a big thing with Pisces) Niecy is glowing with this beautiful pastel hue. She of course completes her look with a pair of open-toed heels and a matching clutch.

Fashion For a Pisces Woman’s Night Out on The Town:

When a Pisces woman hits the town you can be certain all eyes will be on her. They exude romance and charm. You can be sure she will be dazzling on the dance floor in a fun, colorful dress. Although most times their dress will be colorful and have some sort of floral pattern, Pisces women also really enjoy the color beige and will step out in a skin tight beige dress with teal or pink open-toed heel and matching handbag for a burst of color. What it comes down to is they love that sassy-classy look.

The beautiful starlet Rashida Jones definitely turns heads wherever she goes. In this photo she is making waves as a fellow Pisces on the purple carpet. Her trim wasted, knee-length dress is perfect for whatever the night may bring. It has a very fun and unique pattern with beautiful colors of blues and greens (perfect for a Pisces female) and it is stylish while still looking comfortable. She shows just enough leg and adds a bit of extra flair to her look by wearing dark blue strappy, open-toed pumps with a bit of shine.

Accessories:

Pisces women love accessories because there are no limits and there’s endless possibilities. Pisces are known to be very creative and imaginative people so they can take a cool, colorful scarf and make it into a fashionable belt or hairpiece. For the day-to-day they usually will wear a pair of dangling earrings with a pop of color. They love bangles and cuff bracelets and unique rings with large, unique and colorful stones or designs. Basically what it comes down to is that if they see something that has bright colors in it they will rock it!

Quirky cutie Ellen Page shows us she knows how to accessorize like a true Pisces by wearing a super cool black and silver braided chain necklace with a large colorful pendant. I know this picture is from 2009 but I chose it for a 2 reasons; Ellen is the ultimate Pisces female (she’s ambitious, compassionate, stands up for things she cares about, creative…), when doing my research and finding out she was a Pisces I got really excited because I remembered her having a really cool necklace one time (this one) that I was obsessed with and got really excited to feature it (and her) in one of our style blogs. The colors in the pendant are beautiful, I will put a close up below, but it really just sums up a Pisces females jewelry selection in one single piece.

Here is a close up of Ellen’s pendant.

Happy GALentines Day

That’s right, GALentines Day. I’m a big fan of the show Parks and Rec. with Amy Poehler and her character Leslie is big on celebrating Galentines Day the day before Valentines Day. What is it? Basically you round up your gal pals, leave your boyfriends, husbands, whatever at home and spend Valentines Eve with your ladies. No boys allowed.

Grab your girls and plan a night of fun things to do together. You can chose to do a girls night out or a girls night in the important thing is that you are all together and having fun and catching up without the boys around. It’s like turning back time to when we were younger and had sleepovers and stayed up all night talking and playing games.

For A Gals Night In:

If you are going to do a girls night in make it super special and go all out! Go to the dollar store and get some Valentines Day themed sparkly confetti and a pink table cloth to decorate the dinner table. Get some fancy looking drink stirrers and anything glittery you can’t go wrong. Decorate the table and put cupcakes or a cake as the centerpiece with a sign saying “Happy Galentines Day” for you and your friends to enjoy.

Also, plan some fun things to do for the night after dinner is over like watch your favorite “girl power” movies, play some games, make some drinks, set up a makeshift photo-booth and take funny pictures to capture the events of the night. I made a list of me and my friends favorite movies for girls nights and games we break out when we feel like taking it back to our teen years and got some suggestions for drink ideas for girls nights that I will list for inspiration for readers. Also, have a dance party! No girls night in or out is complete without a dance party.

Movies:
Clueless, Mean Girls, Heathers, Bridesmaids, Sex In The City, The Ugly Truth, Pretty In Pink.

Games:
Girl Talk, Truth or Dare, Kiss-Marry-YouKnowWhat, Kings Cup.

Drinks:
Sparkling Blood Orange Martini: 1.5 ounce blood orange juice, 2 ounce vodka, 1 ounce lime juice, 4 ounce sparkling water, lime wedge for garnish.

Cupids Cupcake Cocktail: vodka, chocolate sauce, buttermilk, red food coloring, creme de cacao, vanilla, shake in an ice shaker, dip the rim of the glass in creme cheese frosting and enjoy.

For A Gals Night Out:

If you and the ladies decide to spend your Galentines Day out on the town then again, do it big! Plan a day or afternoon of pampering. Go get mani-pedis and sip champagne and catch up on each others lives and fill every one in on the latest news – whatever, the day is about friends and fun and girl time!

After your pampering is through you can go looking for some sales and find some cute outfits to wear out to dinner and drinks. Maybe you wanna hit up a karaoke club. I can tell you from personal experience, you can’t go wrong with going to a karaoke bar. Even when you are not participating, or sober as a bird, just watching others partake is pure enjoyment. Again, make sure the night includes a dance party!
