Accessories of The Zodiac: Taurus

For those born under the sign of Taurus it’s all about luxury and comfort. Taurus tends to be drawn towards high-quality pieces that never go out of style. They have great taste!

This is a sign that is associated with the neck and throat so when accessorizing, be sure to draw attention to those areas with a bold necklace, scarf, or snazzy earrings. This is a sign that is not afraid of flashy accessories, in fact they prefer their things to look more expensive and high-end (even though they are really bargain hunters).

Shades of blue are known to best compliment Taurus. I had a hard time narrowing it down to just one product for them. Since this sign likes silky linens and should accent their throat and neck area I’ve chosen a pair of earrings, a scarf, and a statement necklace that I felt would be perfect for any stylish Taurus woman.

First, I chose the Aida Tassel Chandeliers from Stella and Dot. These earrings are great for Taurus because they can be flashy or toned down in their style so they can decide how they want to rock this piece. Inspired by the maze of arched ceilings and windows at the Grand Bazaar. Rock these earrings as a triple, double, or single drop with or without the whimsical tassel detail.

Second, I chose the Union Square Scarf in Cobalt/Black Tribal by Stella and Dot. Taurus will love this luxurious silk blend scarf. The colors and pattern will make any outfit pop and really draw attention to the stylish Taurus woman.

Lastly, I picked what I think is the ultimate statement piece for the bold Sign of The Bull, Stella and Dot’s Natalie Necklace. Again, this piece is great for Taurus because it gives them options to change it up. Reverse this collar necklace from neutral mixed metal to a pop of cobalt to change up the look. It has genuine leather detail with hints of pave sparkle. “What makes this necklace a statement isn’t size, but a special, eye-catching element, like this unexpected leather collar.” – Jacey Duprie of Damsel in Dior

DIY Springtime Projects

1. Letter Planters- These are especially fun for kids or if you’re having a party this spring and want to jazz up your yard. They sell cardboard letters at any craft store. First you will need to cut the top off with a serrated knife then poke some holes in the bottom of the letter(s) for draining water.

Fill the letter(s) up about halfway with your dirt. Now you can arrange your flowers however you want around the letters and then top off the rest of the way with more dirt and you’re done!

2. Suncatcher Wind Chimes- This is fun because you get to go on a bit of a scavenger hunt for some of the items you will be needing. You’re going to need to find a sturdy stick that’s about 6-8 inches long, some colorful flowers, leaves, stones and rocks, look for things that are relatively small in size aside from the stick but look for things with different colors, shapes, and textures. You will also need some things from your house like scissors, contact paper, string or any type of cord, rings from mason jars, and a pen. On the paper side, take your mason car rings and contact paper and trace rings for as many rings as you have. Peel off the sticky side of the contact paper and stick onto a surface. Take the stuff you found on your hunt and stuck it to the contact paper then once you’re finished place another piece of contact paper on top. Press down firmly so that it sticks wherever it can. Cut along the circles you traced then stick it in the mason lid ring. Tie your cord around the rings and then fasten the other end of the cord to the stick and hang it up on your porch.

3. Simple Flower Pot- This project is fast and simple and costs about $2-$3. You just need an empty can of tunafish or something about that size and some clothes pins. If you want to get really fancy you can get some paint and paint the clothes pins but its not necessary.

So, SUPER SIMPLE, take your clothes pins and stick them around the can then dump in a bit of dirt and either some seeds or flowers and there you go…you’re done. You have a cute little flower pot.

Did you miss out on the Fire Signs (Aries, Leo, and Sagittarius), the Earth Signs (Taurus, Virgo, and Capricorn), or the Air Signs (Gemini, Libra, and Aquarius) blogs? No worries, You can check out the fire sign addition here, the Earth Sign blog here, and the Air Sign blog here.

Cancer: Cancer’s are pretty imaginative people and enjoy trying new things but with flavors they are already familiar with and know they enjoy. Born under the sign of the carb they do tend to like drinks that have a bit of an “overkill” taste to most; what I mean is their motto is “go big or go home.” Cancers enjoy classic flavors like mint, coconut, hazelnut, chocolate, vanilla, etc. and they would love any kind of drink experimenting with these familiar flavors.

Alcoholic- THE NUTELLA COCKTAIL

Ingredients:

1 oz. of Vanilla Vodka

1/2 oz. of Frangelico

1/2 oz. of Creme de Cacao

Nutella

Coconut Flakes

Cherries

Directions:

Add Vodka, Frangelico, Creme de Cacao, and a scoop of Nutella to a shaker with ice and shake for about 30 seconds. Take a plate or bowl (bigger than your glass) and spoon some of your Nutella onto there so that you can rim your glass with the Nutella. Get enough on there so that you can get a good bit of coconut flakes on there. Pour the mixture and ice into your garnished glass and add a cherry and enjoy your chocolatey delight.

Scorpio: Scorpios are very intense. This is probably the boldest sign of the zodiac so they need a very no hassle option that will get the job done. Scorpios tend to like to eat their liquor…example, jello shots, alcohol infused fruits, etc. Scorpios enjoy flavors that have a bit of a sting like whiskey and they also enjoy entertaining so I went with what I think would satisfy this rather picky sign. Sticking to the basics.

JACK DANIELS HONEY INFUSED WATERMELON

Ingredients:

Large Watermelon

3-4 Bottles of Jack Daniels Honey Flavored Whiskey

Directions:

Cut out 3-4 holes (however many bottles of whiskey you got) into your watermelon. Make them about as wide and as deep as the neck of the bottles. You are going to need an extra set of hands for this one because I find its better if you have someone to hold the watermelon over the open bottles where the holes are cut to angle them in. If you do not have that option then place the watermelon in the sink and quickly jam the bottles into the cut holes and let the water melon sit with the bottles upside-down for 24-48 hours. Take a pan or a bowl and chop up your delicious watermelon and enjoy it’s special kick just for you.

Pisces: Born under the sign of the fish I went with the obvious choice here. Pisces are very imaginative people and they like the look of this drink and also the fact that they can get creative with the ingredients and how they decorate their fish bowl.

THE PISCES FISH BOWL

Ingredients:

6 oz. of Vodka of Your Choice

6 oz. of Coconut Rum

4 oz. of Peach Schnapps

4 oz. of UV Blue Vodka

2 Ltr. Bottle of Sprite or Similar Soda

Nerds Candies

Swedish Fish Candies

Oranges/Cherries (Whichever Preferred)

Directions:

Mix vodkas, rum, schnapps and soda in a large container and put aside until ready to serve. Prep your fish bowls. *Note: you can find actual glass or plastic fishbowls at the dollar store sometimes, if not there then the craft store for about $3-$4. Fill the bottom of the fishbowls with the Nerds candy and fill the rest up with ice and Sweedish Fish Candy and then pour your drink mix into the fishbowls. Garnish with slices of oranges or cherries (optional) to add more flavor. Get some fun straws and enjoy.

Did you miss out on the Fire Signs (Aries, Leo, and Sagittarius) or the Earth Signs (Taurus, Virgo, and Capricorn) blogs? No worries, You can check out the fire sign addition here and the Earth Sign blog here.

Gemini: Represented by the symbol of the twins, Gemini’s are very unpredictable. They’re more social drinkers and don’t really have a “drink of choice” if you will but they tend to stick to beer because when they start drinking they go hard and fast. Gemini’s are they type of drinkers that if you hand them a glass of something and tell them to drink it they will because they just want to have fun and be a part of the good times. They will most likely have a different drink in their hand each time you see them if at a party or maybe for the hardcore ones they will have a beer in one hand and a mixed drink in the other. I’ve found what I think would be the best summer refresher to please the wacky Gemini’s indecisive pallet.

Alcoholic- THE HOP, SKIP, and GO NAKED PUNCH

Ingredients:

6 Pack of 12 oz. Cans of Your Beer of Choice

1 Pint of Canadian Whiskey

2 Lt. Bottle of Your Choice of Lemon Lime Flavored Soda

1 Frozen 12 oz. Can of Frozen Lemonade Concentrate

Ice

Directions:

(Your Choice) Of pitcher or large bowl, slowly add beer making sure not to get too much foam then add the whiskey and the frozen lemonade and soda. Stir ingredients well but not too fast until the frozen lemonade mixture is completely mixed in. Add ice into the bowl or pitcher and no matter what side of Gemini is out to play today, they’re sure to enjoy this one. *Hint- I find it’s best to let the frozen lemonade concentrate sit out for about 15 minutes before starting this so that you can break it up into smaller chunks with the spoon while mixing.

Gemini: Non-Alcoholic- GOURMET ROOT BEER FLOAT

Ingredients:

Vanilla Ice Cream

Your Choice of Root Beer

Whipped Cream

Cherries

Directions:

Grab a tall glass and place one scoop vanilla ice cream into the glass. Slowly pour a bit of root beer over the scoop of ice cream- repeat. Then towards the middle for a bit of an added surprise and flavor chop up 2 or 3 cherries and put a thin layer of whipped cream and sprinkle the chopped cherries on the layer then fill the glass the rest of the way doing the ice cream and root beer. Top off with whipped cream and a whole cherry. Delicious twist on a classic.

Libra: Libras are all about class and style. They have a taste for the finer things in life and enjoy sipping on champagne and wine. They enjoy a bit of a fruity taste when it comes to their glass. They aren’t into bitters or dry tasting wines or champagnes so mixes with a bit of added taste or sparkling wines are great for this well-balanced sign.

Alcoholic- FROZEN PEACH BELLINI

3 Cups of Frozen Peaches

2 Tsp. Vanilla

1/4 Cup of Sugar

Directions:

Place your frozen peaches in the blender and blend for about 2 minutes. Just enough to break it all up. Add your vanilla and sugar to the peach’s and blend until smooth. Pour your peach mixture into your cup ( be sure to leave 1/4 of the cup empty so you have room for your champagne) Then to finish it off slowly pour champagne in your glass and stir very gently.

Libra: Non-Alcoholic- DIY SLUSHY Ingredients:

Your Choice of Fruit

Ice

Sparkling Bubbly Seltzer Water

Directions:

Blend fruit and ice together. Pour mixture into a glass about halfway, slowly add seltzer water and stir together with straw or spoon until blended. *This is done mostly by eye I find, I usually gauge it by the consistency and add more mixture slowly as I stir.

Aquarius: Now these individuals are just that- individual. Aquarians like to try new things and make sure everyone around them knows how different they are by choosing the most random drink on the menu. They might even order something that isn’t even on the menu and tell the bartender how to make it! This is definitely a sign who wants to keep up on the trendiest beverages and go mostly by how they look rather than taste.

Alcoholic- AURORA JUNGLE JUICE

Ingredients:

(Based on large group party)

3 to 4 Bottles of Pink Lemonade Concentrate

9 Ltrs. of Tonic Water

2 Ltrs. of Either Gin or Vodka (your choice)

Ice

(Need black light at party for full effect)

Directions:

Usually when making a mix like this you would get a big cooler to combine the ingredients in. I would also suggest as an alternative mixing the ingredients in a very large, clear jug or spouted punch bowl. Mix your ingredients together except for the ice, mix the ice into the punch as last minute as possible before drinking. *Note: Aquarians if you’re serving this up at your next bash make sure you get clear cups because in natural light it will have a pink color sue to the pink lemonade but once you flick on black light it will glow in the dark!

Aquarius: Non-Alcoholic- WATER

Easy enough. Aquarians love their H20.

Are you an Aries, Leo, or Sagittarius and miss out on last weeks blog? No worries, You can check out the fire sign addition here.

Taurus: Sweet and savory is what this sign looks for in a drink. Something they can sip on and just chill out and get a nice buzz going on is what this sign is all about. They like creativity too, cool looking garnishes or specialty customized looks are what draws them in initially and then it’s game on.

Vanilla Ice Cream

Oreo Cookies

Cupcake Icing

Mini Marshmallows

Directions:

Blend vanilla ice cream and assortment of alcohols in a blender. Pour in a glass. *Tip- You can add a scoop of coco powder to the mix or a teaspoon of chocolate syrup to the bottom of your glass before you pour in your mixture for a bit of extra deliciousness. Top off the glass by decorating it with your cupcake icing, an Oreo, and mini marshmallows for the eyes.

Taurus: Non-Alcoholic- CAMPFIRE S’MORE DELIGHT

French Vanilla Cream

Chocolate Marshmallow Ice Cream

Chocolate Cake Frosting

Graham Crackers

Chocolate Syrup

Directions:

Blend French vanilla cream and chocolate vanilla ice cream in a blender until you get the consistency you desire. Take your glass, cover the entire rim of the glass with the chocolate cake frosting and then coat with crushed graham crackers. Take your Chocolate syrup and do a nice little (or big) whatever, swirl starting from inside the bottom of the glass and bring it up to the sides and then top it off by pouring in your vanilla marshmallow ice cream delight and enjoy the trip down memory lane that’s happening because you will feel like you are back at summer camp with the first sip. *Warning* This one is addicting!!

Virgo: Virgos are hard workers and enjoy their downtime to the fullest. While they usually are content with just thawing on their most comfortable clothes after a long day and kicking their feet up in front of the TV or enjoying a good book with a cold (light) beer, they do like the occasional cocktail. They have particular taste when it comes to cocktails and tend to go for drinks mixed with light rums, gins, and bitters. Virgos are also pretty healthy people so this is why they stick to the lighter liquors and like drinks with fruits or natural juices.

Alcoholic- THE ABBEY COCKTAIL

Ingredients:

1 1/2 oz Gin

1 1/2 oz Lillet Blanc

1 oz Orange Juice of Choice

2 Dashes of Oranges Bitters

For Garnish: Cherries and Orange Twist

Directions:

Take a shaker with ice, gin, Lillet, orange juice, and bitters, shake well and strain into a chilled glass of your choosing. Add your cherries and orange twist garnishes.

Virgo: Non-Alcoholic- ROSEMARY-INFUSED CUCUMBER LEMONADE

Ingredients:

about 3 Large Cucumbers

3 Tablespoons of Agave Syrup

1 Tablespoon of Chopped, Fresh Rosemary (and 4 additional sprigs to add for garnish)

1 Cup of Water

1/2 Cup of Lemon Juice

Directions:

First, cut a dozen thin slices of cucumber to use as garnish. Take the rest of the cucumbers and peel and chop them and place them into a food processor. Add the rosemary and then puree. Grab a fine mesh strainer (if you do not have one make do with what you have) set it over a medium sized bowl and then extract all the juices from the solids you have through the strainer into the bowl. After you’ve done the hard part, add your water, lemon juice, and agave syrup to your extracted cucumber juice and stir it together. When it’s all dissolved, pour into glasses filled with ice and garnish them with the sliced cucumber slices you put aside and the extra sprigs of rosemary. This is not only super healthy and detoxifies the body but it is super hydrating so it might seem like a lot of work but it really only takes about 15-20 minutes but it is SO worth it!

Capricorn: Capricorns enjoy the classics. Drinks like Manhattans give them the feel of the sophistication with the twist of sweetness they can enjoy for a night on the town. During the hot summer months they enjoy the classic lemonades and punches. We took the best of both worlds and literally mixed them together.

Alcoholic- AMARETTO-BOURBON PUNCH

Ingredients:

5 Cups of Seltzer

4 Cups of Bourbon of your choice

2 Cups of Sparkling Apple Juice

2 Cups of Fresh Lemon Juice

1 Cup of Simple Syrup

3/4 Cup of Amaretto or your choice of almond flavored liqueur

For Garnish: Lemon slices and Cherries

Directions:

Fill a large punch bowl or pitcher with ice. Add bourbon, amaretto (or almond liqueur of choice), simple syrup, seltzer, Lemon juice, Sparkling apple juice, and mix together. *You can make the choice to add the lemon slices and cherries as garnishes to each individual serving or you can stir them into the mix itself. Honestly, either way would be delicious.

Capricorn: Non-Alcoholic- RASPBERRY SPRITZER

2 Cups of Seltzer

2/3 Cups of Frozen Raspberries

2 Sprigs of Fresh Mint

3 oz of Raspberry-flavored Syrup

Aries: Drinks with a bit of spice or is best for the typical fiery Aries. To satisfy their fun non-stop side adding a bit of powerful fruit flavors to their beverage. Aries are charmers and tend to get a bit flirty if they drink too much (and they will keep going all night) if they are challenged to a drinking contest so it’s best for this sign to have something with the right mixtures so they can be feeling good with just 1 or 2 drinks instead of an all night shot chugging contest.

Alcoholic- ORANGE  DREAMSICLE  MARGARITA

Ingredients:

1 1/2 oz. Tequila

1/2oz. Triple Sec

1oz. Lime Juice

1oz. Orange Juice

Orange Soda (glass bottle such as Crush or Hanks)

Lime Slices

Salt

Ice

Directions:

Take your glass and lime slices. Gently run the lime along the edge of the glass to get it a bit sticky then rim the glass with your salt. Blend Ice, Tequila, Triple Sec, Lime Juice, and Orange Juice together until you get the consistency you desire by adding more or less ice to the blended mix. Pour mixture into your salt-rimmed glass and garnish with a sliced lime then take your bottle of orange soda, take the cap off and carefully place it at an upside-down angle in your glass and enjoy your cool summer treat.

Non-Alcoholic- MERLIN’S TREAT

Ingredients:

2 oz Mango Juice

1 oz Pineapple Juice

1 oz Orange Juice

1/2 oz Strawberry Syrup (I prefer fresh strawberries sliced or chopped thin)

2 oz dry ginger ale

Nutmeg

Directions:

Take a shaker with ice and shake the mango juice, orange juice, and pineapple juice (and syrup if you’re going with the strawberry syrup instead of fresh strawberries), strain into an ice-filled glass. Add the ginger ale and sprinkle with grated nutmeg. (If you are using the fresh strawberry method then add them along with the ginger ale.) Delicious summer treat for the non drinkers and the dash of nutmeg adds that bit of bite for the Aries!

Leo: Leo’s have colorful personalities. They are bold, creative and enjoy the finer things in life like lounging around the pool with the people they love. They car a lot about their image so they tend to be a bit on the healthy side as much as possible so these fruit infused drinks are sure to be a hit for the smooth Leo.

Alcoholic- THE LAVA FLOW

Ingredients:

*Red Layer-

1oz Light Rum

1oz Coconut Rum

2oz Strawberries

*Yellow Layer-

1 Banana

2oz Pineapple Juice

Ingredients:

1 Mini Seedless Watermelon

8 oz Lemon Juice

2 Cups Frozen Strawberries

3/4 Cup Sugar

2 Cups of Ice

Directions:

Slice the watermelon in half and scrape the insides out using a spoon. Once you have gotten all the fruit from the center of the melon, place it in a large blender and add the lemon juice, strawberries, sugar, and ice. Blend the mix until it’s pureed then pour the lemonade straight from your blender, or pour into a pitcher. Pour it into the two empty halves of the watermelon, add a skewered strawberry and lemon for garnish, grab a funky straw and enjoy your fruity beverage by the pool.

Alcoholic- The Adios Mofo

      What is Happiness?

      June 25, 2014, 12:00 AM

      1

      By: Saleem Rana

“What is it that everyone is seeking? Happiness with no sorrow. A continuous happiness with no taint whatsoever of sorrow.” ~Lester Levenson

Happiness is our basic nature. We rarely find it because we are not in touch with our basic nature. Instead we look for happiness everywhere where it doesn’t exist.

The world equates happiness with fulfilling a desire. Yet every goal achieved and every possession finally owned is a fleeting pleasure. I do appreciate what I have. Yes, I am grateful for it. However, satisfaction and pleasure are not the same as happiness.

Again, one can be loved, even adored, and still not be happy. People, for example, considered Elvis Presley adorable. He was beautiful, talented, and kind-hearted. Yet, he, himself, was not happy.

What, then, is happiness? Everybody craves it, but few enjoy it. And those that do enjoy it, do so only fleetingly. Seasons pass and what was once considered a source of endless delight fades in its glory.

The closest we can get to happiness is through love. Loving stimulates happiness. This happiness arises when we give love. It arises because love, too, is our basic nature. Thus, when we love, we are happy; and we are happy because we are being ourselves, expressing our true nature.

Our true nature is happiness. This is the quality of soul. In fact, soul, in its primal aspect, is a consciousness that is blissful, wise, and powerful beyond measure. However, we seldom experience our true nature and seldom get in touch with our souls because the limitations of thought shadow the soul the way clouds hide the sun.

It is the task of every person to discover their own soul. This quest is fulfilled through spiritual practices. As we shed our illusions about the nature of the world and our relationship to it, we become more aware of our own luminosity. When we give, love, and share, we touch upon the majesty of our soul. We bring it out into the world. We slip out from behind the veil of mind and show ourselves.

One who has stripped away all veneer of thought, all layers of mind, becomes ensouled. When the mind is quiet there is nothing left over but the infinite Self.

      By: Lulu Gleason

So as everyone knows I’ve been doing the learning the Tarot Cards blogs. It’s my first attempt at combining my two favorite subjects. Since summer is here I figured I would try something different. I’m going to combine my love of astrology with my love with the Tarot. For each sign I’ve pulled a card to see how summer will be for this particular sign. Don’t forget to leave a comment and tell me how close I’ve gotten for your sign! And of course have a wonderful summer!

Aries – This sign is full of fire, passion and drive. For this sign I’ve pulled the Seven of Pentacles. This summer is going to be a test for this sign. The seven of pentacles is all about taking a pause and reevaluating everything going on in your life and see if you are going down the path of your desire. Are your goals matching the pace you are going? Is there something not going right? Now is the time Aries to take a much needed step back and really look at life and where it is you are going. You’ll make the proper adjustments as long as you keep a cool head.

Taurus – This is the sign of stability. For this sign I’ve pulled the Death card in reverse. For this card to come up it usually means there’s something you’re not dealing with. It’s highly unusual for this sign to back down but with summer coming there could be this strong desire in this sign to just bypass the mess that lays a head. Don’t do it Taurus! Slow down take a moment to think things through like the steadfast soul you can be. You’ll need to fight that desire to just not deal with some messy things in your life. Realize what is stopping you from getting to your goals and work them through this summer.

Gemini – This is the sign of duality. For this sign I’ve pulled the Two of Pentacles in reverse. This summer just can’t get here fast enough for young hearted Gemini. You could be feeling like productivity has been slow. You could just feel so weighed down by some emotional baggage that’s been lingering around. Or a combination of the both. If you’re feeling this way just take things one small thing at a time. By keeping busy you’ll find the emotional baggage starts to lighten. Alternatively you might find yourself taking on too much. Focus! Stay on track by again taking things little by little until you’ve finished your goals. Stop resisting change and make sure you are well prepared for anything this summer.

Cancer – This is the sign of maternal feelings and home.  For this sign I’ve pulled the Six of Pentacles. This summer will be about giving and taking. Cancer you have a tendency of holding things in. I would strongly suggest you learn to open up – even if it’s only a little. The Six of Pentacles shares the message of paying things forward. Don’t be too proud to accept a little help at times. Instead offer some help to another. Look for the balance when dealing with relationships. Are you not getting what you want? Maybe look at what you are offering.

Leo – This sign is the shining star of the zodiac. For this sign I’ve pulled The Magician. We already know Leo’s are capable of handling tough situations. As well as the drive to make things happen. The Magician amplifies this. Leo this is the summer to jump forward with your dreams. Make your goals and really focus them because you’re going to make them bloom.  There’s something behind you feeding your inner power. Use it wisely and use it to make your goals go forward this summer.

Virgo – This is the sign of analytical thinking. For this sign I’ve pulled the Four of Cups in reverse. Summer is going to feel like you are getting nowhere. It’s quite possible you’ll get involved in some emotional stress. You may feel like you are on the verge of an emotional breakdown and masking your issues by pushing ahead anyway. Take some time and break away. If you find yourself getting involved in a sticky mess just remember it’s another way for you to emotionally grow. Withdrawal seems to be the key word for this card. So avoid withdrawing completely from what’s going on around you because there is a lessons to be learned this summer.

Libra – This is the sign of balance. For this sign I’ve pulled the King of Pentacles. When you pull a card like this from the deck it usually represents someone you know, someone you could meet or even be you. So Libra be prepared for success to come into focus this summer. As the man you already know. Libra this gentlemen is here to help guide you with the luxuries your use to. As the man you will meet – Libra sensual passion is coming. He’s sensitive, great with money and a thoughtful lover. You as the King of Pentacles could just be pointing out your wonderful self. Fairness is a strong point and you do it so well. Be prepared to keep yourself together when others around you get crazy.

Scorpio – This is the sign of intensity. For this sign I’ve pulled The Hierophant. You’ll be doing a bit of soul searching this summer Scorpio. Time to thinking about your beliefs and examine where you are in life. Are you being flexible or ridged as a stone wall? Is there something stopping you from teaching the world? With all this in mind here are some valuable questions. Are you living life by what is expected? Or are you listening to that higher calling within yourself? This summer is about thinking about your life and organizing your thoughts so that you can move forward. It might not happen right away, and could be nothing more than an afterthought. But either way Scorpio you will be doing some soul searching this summer.

Sagittarius – This is the sign of adventure. For this sign I’ve pulled the Five of Pentacles. Summertime is when you’ll be feeling the heat in many ways. You’ll find yourself in a position where you are going without – willingly or unwillingly. Rest assured everyone around you knows the situation they feel it too. Pay attention and reach for the wealth of happiness. Remember you are not alone. Support and help is there.  Ask and you shall receive.

Capricorn – This is the sign of the serious thinker. For this sign I’ve pulled The Page of Pentacles in reverse. In the transition from spring into summer we see more of a chance to get out and just splurge. It’s that time of the year were we tend to slack off a bit. The page of pentacles, even in reverse, still could represent a young man or youthful figure. It could be someone you know, someone who comes in to your life or it could be talking about you. The page in this reverse position tends to mean immaturity. Capricorn, you usually have yourself together. BUT as a precaution I would start budgeting, getting focused, and be practical about the steps you are treading. Don’t let someone take you down in a spiral. Even if they are cute.

Aquarius – This is the sign of the independent. For this sign I’ve pulled the Four of pentacles. The four of pentacles tends to deal with security and control. I mean look at the card and you see a man claiming every pentacle (Traditional AE Waite deck). This summer Aquarius, you’ll be planted very firmly on your feet. You’re secure in your position and you’re not going to chance losing it now. Security is valuable but sometimes cleaning out a closet or two won’t hurt either. Change it up a bit. You’ll feel better for it. Just don’t go crazy and ruin the foundation you created.

Pisces – This is the sign of the artist. For this sign I’ve pulled the Seven of Cups. How like Pisces to come up with this card. The seven of cups is the card of choices and fantasies. Pisces, I suggest you figure out what it is you want and start voicing that opinion. Really focus on the reality and keep your head out of the clouds. I know it’s hard for you but if you want your summer to be the dream you see now. I suggest you start the process of making that reality. If you have the choice to reach for your dreams then why not focus on attaining them? As hard as it is put the fantasy aside because there are better things to be had. Don’t waste your time because you could lose out on something really worth it this summer.

It happens every year. Just when you are settled in to the lazy days of summer, you are startled to find Back to School catalogs in your mailbox and bikinis going on sale in favor of turtlenecks. Your local store has devoted an entire aisle to pencils, notebooks, and lunch bags.

Soon there will be no more long days at the beach, late nights watching movies with popcorn, or mornings free of alarm clock jitters. It’s enough to make you dread September, but it doesn’t need to be that way. With a slight change in attitude and a plan in place, September can be one of the best months of the year.

      1. Practice – Don’t wait until Labor Day to get ready for the changeover to the school year. Begin pulling back bedtime during the last two weeks of August-around 8:30 to 9:00 PM for elementary school kids.

      2. Lower Your Expectations – Major transitions equal disruption. Routines change and priorities shift. Allow yourself extra leeway when it comes to chores and tasks. Avoid scheduling appointments during the month surrounding the start of the school year.

      3. Carve Out Extra Time – Clear the decks of added responsibilities so that you can get through the transition with less stress. Don’t sign up for your usual extra-curricular activities. Keep your family commitments to a minimum.

      4. Motivate Your Kids – Preparing for school isn’t a job only for parents. The students themselves have things they must do to get ready. Make all the back to school activities, like shopping for school clothes, a fun family event. Devote the first week of school to getting settled and having fun as a family. Plan pizza nights and ice cream socials. Schedule extra game nights and buy a new puzzle.

      5. Ask for Help – Reduce your stress during this transition. Enlist help to complete all the back to school tasks. Hire a babysitter to watch your younger children while you take your older children to buy school clothes. Ask grandparents to supervise school supplies purchases.

      6. Set the Tone – Set a positive tone for the new school year. If you approach September with the kind of dread usually associated with prison terms, you can be sure your kids aren’t going to be too happy about going to school. On the other hand, if you show interest and excitement in what lies ahead, then your child will be eager to get started.

      7. Focus – The beginning of a new school year is an important time for a child.

The whole family should be interested and involved in the process. Express interest about the upcoming year, classes, and school friends. Share your school memories. Celebrate this new beginning!

The beginning of a new school year can be an exciting time for a family. It’s a fresh start with new teachers and classmates, and perhaps even a new school. Planning for the best possible beginning to the year shows your child how much you care. The more effort you put into it, the more you and your child will reap the rewards.

We have been conditioned by our everyday experiences to experience time in certain limited ways, but I think there is much more to it than that. With all the changes the Earth is going through, it is natural to wonder if time is not changing as well.
